October 16, 2009

Our last dual meet of the season was another exciting one with GREAT swims and lots of energy.  The final score was Garfield 87 - Skyline 99.  We had 39 best times, another relay qualified for state and two new girls made district cuts!!!

Many thanks to all the parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends that helped out at our home meets. Garfield had the best run meets of any team in the league!!

October 13, 2009

The Lady Bullfrogs won their meet against Redmond today 132-53.  There were many best times with the Freshman in particular really coming through with outstanding swims!   Gotta love the energy of our future team leaders!

October 9, 2009

The Lady Bullfrogs posted another win, this time against Eastlake 98-88.   The team swam well with 57 personal best individual times or relay splits!!  The biggest success came when one of our girls, who began the year as a non-swimmer, competed in her first swimming event - the 50 freestyle!     WAY TO GO!!!!!!

October 2, 2009

The Lady Bullfrogs won the meet against Liberty on Friday 127-59 with the largest team turnout for a meet to date - 50 swimmers!!!!   We had two new girls make district cuts at this meet and at the dive qualifying meet on Saturday 10/3.   That makes 11 girls who have made one or more District cuts this season!  Keep up the good work!!!

September 29, 2009

This was our most exciting meet yet!   Issaquah had a similiar team makeup as ours and so there were some very close races.  Although we lost 87-99, we posted 44 best individual and relay split times as well as had 1 new state and 3 new district qualifying times!!  That is an amazing feat in the middle of our dual meet season - Great Job Girls!!!!

September 25, 2009

Garfield posted another victory on Friday against Sammamish, winning the meet 112-68!    Again we had some stellar swimming with 4 new state times, 5 district times, and more best times achieved by many swimmers.  It was awesome to see such a full house for our first home meet of the season!  Many Garfield students, teachers, AND administrators stopped by to give the Lady Bullfrogs their support!      THANKS!!!

September 22, 2009

The Lady Bullfrogs lost to Newport  88-98 despite winning 10 of 12 events.  Newport's depth gave them many 2-3-4th place finishes that upset Garfield's winning dual meet streak of many years.  The intense battle gave rise to ear piercing cheers and  stellar swims by many GHS swimmers, including:
      4 more state qualifying times
14 district qualifying times made by 8 swimmers

September 18, 2009

The Garfield Lady Bullfrogs handily won their first meet of the season against Interlake 135-47 !
Highlights included:
     4 state qualifying swims
     10 district qualifying swims
     Multiple best times
Tons of team spirit and good sportsmanship behavior!
Way to go Lady Bullfrogs!!!!!

Congratulations to Coach Emily Weber and the Garfield Girl's Swim Team for pulling off an upset and winning second place at the 4A State meet last weekend!  Our swimmers swam some impressive races, placing higher in most of their events than expected.  Fiona Majeau and Maddy Morgan achieved All American Automatic times in their 500 Freestyle and 100 Breastroke respectively and the 400 Free Relay achieved All American Consideration time.

Great Job Lady Bullfrogs!!!!
